A fertile tear for Earle

A country keeps in its memory, the environmental heritage that defines the multiple landscape of jungles, mountains, rivers, coasts, deserts and plains, as a gift of nature. In this geographical space, different communities coexist that weave the warp of their cultural traditions and we also find a spiritual heritage of poets, storytellers, novelists, musicians, visual artists, creators of an identity that defines us as belonging to a centuries-old memorial sediment. , as a sublimation of the human spirit.

Earle Herrera is part of that historical legacy, accompanying intellectuals of the stature of Andrés Bello, Simón Rodríguez, Andrés Eloy Blanco, Vicente Gerbasi, Ramos Sucre, Fernando Paz Castillo, Orlando Araujo, Gustavo Pereira, Ramón Palomares, César Rengifo, José Ignacio Cabrujas, Román Chalbaud, Aquiles and Aníbal Nazoa, Jesús Soto, Carlos Cruz-Diez, Pedro León Zapata, Ana Enriqueta Terán, Vicente Emilio Sojo, Antonio Lauro, Antonio Estévez, Héctor Guillermo Villalobos and Alberto Arvelo Torrealba, among many other forgers of the spiritual homeland.

Now Earle leaves us the bitter taste of his absence. We remember Earle as a good oriental, the folksy man, talkative, without intellectual poses despite having published more than 50 books that deal with poetry, history, essays, humor, with the critical gaze of the professional journalist, fully devoted to university education.

Earle, faithful to his progressive thinking, was a militant of the utopia who yearns for a just and humane world and knew how to make politics, as a deputy, at the service of the dispossessed. So much cultural baggage, so much wisdom, cannot be forgotten. His magnificent work must be published in its entirety at the instruction of Ernesto Villegas, current Minister of Culture and by Jorge Rodríguez, President of the National Assembly, with all the fidelity and sensitivity typical of these tasks.

We met Earle in different and multiple tasks and cultural changes, on a date when memory invites us to be in harmony with our principles for the good of the country, that intangible stay that identifies us as activists of artistic sensibility.

It is worth, therefore, a fraternal hug and a faithful memory to the man of permanent dreams, with the certainty that his legacy will be part of popular memory, that which contains all the wealth of knowledge.

Just a fertile tear on his inert body is enough for Earle to be reborn among birds and flowers, forever and ever.
