In Nueva Esparta state, the Supreme Court of Justice has accredited and sworn in 384 communal peace judges, who are ready to begin their duties in the state's 64 communal circuits.
This event, held at the Francisco Lárez Granado Cultural Complex, located in Juan Griego, Marcano municipality, represents an important advance in the resolution of conflicts at the local level and in the promotion of peaceful coexistence among citizens, as highlighted by Dr. Bettys Luna, presiding judge of Nueva Esparta, who presided over the ceremony along with representatives of the different public powers and the mayors Emilio Velásquez of the Gómez municipality and Yul Armas of Marcano.
"Today we are completing the training of our communal peace judges and, at this time, we are accrediting and swearing them in so they can begin fulfilling their duties, as established in our Constitution," Luna stated. In his remarks, he emphasized that Article 258 of the Bolivarian Constitution of Venezuela establishes peace justice as a right of the people, allowing these judges to resolve conflicts between neighbors through alternative methods.
The new justices have the responsibility of guaranteeing peace and harmony in their communities. "We are confident and convinced that in Nueva Esparta, as well as nationwide, we have justices of the peace committed to providing social well-being and fostering coexistence and solidarity among neighbors," Luna added.
Commitment to peace
The commitment assumed by the judges was evident in the words of Freddy Ramírez, communal justice of the peace of the Ciudad Marinera commune. "Today, after excellent training by the Nueva Esparta state rector's office and our TSJ authorities, we make a commitment to the country, to our family, and to our children. We are making history," Ramírez said, emphasizing the importance of the legacy they will leave for future generations.
Female inclusion and empowerment were also highlighted during the event. Crisely Valerio, justice of the peace for the Alberto Lobera commune, expressed pride in representing women in this new era. "We are taking steps forward and taking advantage of opportunities to work peacefully and unitedly with our men. Peace justice and social justice are fundamental for all of us," Valerio stated with determination.
