Approximately 1.000 water tanks have been delivered to communities on the islands of Margarita and Coche, as part of an alternative strategy to mitigate the impact of the water shortage affecting the state of Nueva Esparta.

The latest allocation of 138 containers was made to families in Pampatar, Maneiro municipality.

The initiative seeks to provide priority areas with storage tools while structural maneuvers are being carried out on the Turimiquire system to restore the piped water supply.

This delivery is part of a joint contingency plan between the Ministry of Popular Power for Water Services, the Government of Nueva Esparta State and the Sectoral Vice Presidency of Public Works and Services, coordinated under the guidelines of the National Executive.

José Fragoso, Vice Minister of Popular Water Management, indicated that the contingency plan not only includes the delivery of water tanks, but also assistance through tanker trucks and operational improvements in the island's water system.

"These are actions implemented to continue advancing in the strengthening of the water system that we are generating as alternative plans, not only in assistance in advancing supply cycles and improving distribution lines, but also supplying water by tanker trucks to each of the homes," said the deputy minister.

The governor of the island state, Marisel Velásquez, explained that the delivery logistics were carried out based on prior requests submitted by families in the community. Simultaneously with the delivery of the equipment, immediate assistance was provided to fill the containers using large tanker trucks.

“We are working as a team to respond, but in an organized way. Each family submitted their request with their name, ID number, phone number, and address. In addition, we have Hidroven present, and the super tanker truck we received from the National Government is filling the delivered tanks today,” said the island's leader.

With these comprehensive actions, local and national authorities seek to provide immediate attention to the water demands of the island population while advancing the consolidation of improvement projects in the entity's hydrological infrastructure.
