UNES presents technological projects for citizen security in Yaracuy

Students, teachers and technicians linked to the institution presented various proposals aimed at optimizing citizen security

The Experimental University of Security (UNES) held its first Science, Technology and Innovation Expofair 2024 for two days at the Hogar Hispano club in Yaracuy, in which students, teachers and technicians linked to the institution presented various proposals aimed at optimizing the citizen security.

In this regard, the regional coordinator of intellectual creation and social linkage of UNES Yaracuy, Alejandro Sánchez, reported this Friday that during the conference, 21 technological projects related to different areas of security were presented.

The proposals covered the use of drones, special security equipment, implementation of television surveillance cameras, use of special rescue equipment, advanced cybersecurity software and other very useful projects for the protection of citizens.

He mentioned that a selection of the most outstanding ideas will be made to present them at the UNES national expo that will be held soon in the Venezuelan capital.

“At UNES we are promoting technological innovation in security matters to contribute our research and work to the different bodies that perform functions in this matter. We have students and teachers with great potential who are giving their best to advance in this area,” Sánchez stressed.

Likewise, he highlighted that the expofair responds to the guidelines issued by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, and the rector of UNES, Fabio Zavarse Pabón, to create spaces and coordination in matters of science and technology to innovate and advance in the intellectual creation of useful products that can be successfully linked to society.

The conferences were coordinated with various institutions, among which the State Research Center for Agroindustrial Experimental Production (Ciepe), INTT, Inatur, Fundey, Conas, Bolivarian National Police, Corps of Scientific Criminal and Criminalistic Investigations (CICPC), stand out. Yaracuy state firefighters, Yaracuy state police and Civil Protection, who also participated with interesting technological projects.

For example, Freddy Rivero López, one of the speakers and belonging to the Yaracuy state police academy, presented an interesting proposal related to the implementation of thermal security cameras in public transportation.

This project seeks to reduce the incidence of robberies and assaults in public transport units, with the installation of a tele-surveillance system that measures the heat differences of potential weapons and sharp instruments that could be used to commit a crime.

Rivero López highlighted that this expofair encourages the ingenuity and creativity of the students, which constitutes a fundamental element to take advantage of both the Unes and the rest of the university institutions, in improving the safety and security of the town.
