Pediatric emergency rehabilitation of the central hospital advances 85%

The rehabilitation works of the Pediatric Emergency service of the San Cristóbal Central Hospital are 85 percent complete, as explained by the mayor of the San Cristóbal municipality, Silfredo Zambrano.

The Mayor of San Cristóbal highlighted that these tasks have the support of the National Government through the Ministry of Health and the regional Executive.

The first municipal authority took a tour with the Vice Minister of Health, Mayra Oviedo; With this new inspection, there are already three supervision visits for the development of the work.

During the new inspection, the replacement of doors, floors, furniture, bathrooms, installation of air conditioners in each of the areas, as well as the reactivation of spaces that were unused, were checked. 

Zambrano highlighted that 55% of the space where the pediatric emergency area operates was disabled. “In some cases, for many years, they served as a warehouse, or as a space that was not really for the specific purpose,” he highlighted.

Another of the works carried out is the oxygen system, the nursing, doctors and child care cubicles.

The remaining works, that is, 15 percent, are practically furniture details and this work will soon be reopened for the benefit of children and adolescents of the state. 

Various enhanced services  

Mariangel Contreras, municipal supervisor of the works at the Central Hospital, explained that the trauma service, the expansion of intensive care, the rehabilitation of the old surgical area, which was used as a warehouse, and now has a capacity of 30 to 35 beds for the care of children, are part of the recovery and maintenance work of the pediatric emergency of the main hospital in Táchira.
