Luis Mariano Rivera theater rehabilitated in Cumaná 

Rehabilitation and conditioning work is progressing by 80%

The rehabilitation work of the Luis Mariano Rivera theater, in Cumaná, carried out by the Government of the state of Sucre, is 80% progressing, with the aim of providing the population with decent spaces for the enjoyment of culture and the performing arts.

The information was provided by Anil Pestano, president of the Luis Mariano Rivera Theater Foundation, who highlighted that the restoration and conditioning work of this cultural epicenter of the city of Cumaná began last May, in compliance with the policies promoted by Governor Gilberto Pinto, through the “Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho” development plan.

“We began the recovery and modernization of this theater, in order to 100% transform these facilities that for a long time have served as the stage for countless national and international presentations,” said Pestano.

Replacement of the floor of the main room of the theater, recovery of the seats, improvements in the electrical system and air conditioning, have been part of the work that has been carried out so far, the official detailed.

"These works have been carried out in compliance with the policies of Governor Gilberto Pinto, under the lines issued by President Nicolás Maduro, in order to continue recovering and promoting culture in the national territory," he indicated.

He explained that, now, they are improving the spaces in the theater lobby, where they plan to build a small museum, to show the population the evolution of these facilities since their creation.

“We have the mission of providing a space in excellent condition for culture, for our artists, our children and our entire population in general. That is why we have added what would be the recovery of the lobby, where we have projects of interest. The governor has instructed us to transform and continue advancing in these changes that encourage and promote cultural activities,” he indicated.

Finally, Pestano reported that they plan to reopen the theater on July 5, the date on which this cultural epicenter reaches its 20th anniversary.

“We plan to reopen the theater in the month of July on its 20th anniversary, we are planning a very nice and loving event for our people,” he highlighted.
