Colombian former prisoner would be behind a plan to riot in prisons

Three weeks ago, the subject began sending a series of messages announcing a supposed “hunger strike” in all the country's prisons.

Former prisoner Jonathan Alberto Palacios Castillo would be behind a plan to create sources of violence in Venezuelan prisons, according to intelligence reports.

This person is of Colombian nationality and was imprisoned in the Western II Penitentiary Center located in Santa Ana (Táchira) from March 2021 to August 2023.

Palacios Castillo was sentenced for spreading animal and plant diseases, among other crimes. He was also prosecuted for fraud. “The modus operandi of this gang was to recruit people to scam them, promising them a supposed lottery raffle called 'Pick 3' from the state of Florida (USA): The prize would be a country house that did not exist, the money was collected by Adriana Arreaza through a Bank Of América account located in Jacksonville (Florida), which was then sent to Colombia through Zelle, Paypal, Western Union and Bancolombia,” explained the attorney general, Tarek William Saab, at the time.

Three weeks ago, the subject began sending a series of messages announcing a supposed “hunger strike” in all the country's prisons.

Last Tuesday, May 28, the Minister of the Interior reported that they had unveiled a plan to “alter the peace and tranquility of the Penitentiary centers. “We have a name, information.”

Between May 18 and 28, various situations of violence arose in prisons in Monagas, Zulia, Miranda and Nueva Esparta, resulting in 2 deaths and 9 injuries, according to reports.
