During 2024, nearly 22 tons of drugs have been seized

Minister Ceballos highlighted that the crime rate in the country continues to reduce

Some 22 tons of drugs have been seized by the National Anti-Drug Superintendency (Sunad), the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) and citizen security bodies, in joint work this year.

The information was provided this Monday by the Sector Vice President for Citizen Security and Peace, AJ. Remigio Ceballos Ichaso, who highlighted six procedures that have been carried out in 2024 in various parts of the national territory.

During the first military procedure in a town in the state of Apure, a total of 32,850 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride were seized, and two people who were hiding the substances inside bags were arrested, reported from the headquarters of the Ministry of Popular Power for Interior Relations. , Justice and Peace, cited in a note from the entity.

Likewise, in Táchira they seized 10,700 kilograms of drugs and detained two subjects.

On the other hand, the head of the Citizen Security portfolio said that Venezuelan security forces intercepted a vessel, in international waters, with 2 kilograms of cocaine, for which 430 individuals were detained; while in two other operations in the state of Carabobo, 10 kilograms of illicit drugs were seized in Carabobo and 278,640 kilograms in the state Falcón.

These actions are carried out as part of Vertex 2 of the Great Quadrants of Peace Mission, which establishes the frontal fight against illicit drug trafficking, strategies for comprehensive prevention and combat against organized crime, as tangible results of crime reduction in the country.

Reduction in the crime rate continues

This Monday, during the Ministerial Council, Ceballos also reported on the 24,5% decrease in the crime rate compared to 2023.

“We want to inform the people of Venezuela that we have managed to maintain and reduce a 24,5% reduction in crime rates, and together with our police forces we continue to advance in the direct fight against crime in all its expressions,” the Admiral said in Boss.

In this sense, during the ministerial meeting, the strategies and action plans related to the patrols of the citizen security forces aimed at combating structured criminal organizations were analyzed.

Likewise, the also Minister of Popular Power for Interior Relations, Justice and Peace, ordered the operational deployment and active monitoring of the National Risk Management System, during the upcoming rainy period.
