The Last of Us Part 2 for PC has completed its development, but it will take a while to arrive

A recent report assured that despite being ready in 2023, it will not arrive until the premiere of the second season of the HBO series.

After the State of Play broadcast on May 30, we learned that God of War: Ragnarök is finally coming to PC this year, this being another exclusive Playstation 5 game to reach the Mastar Race. However, another of the big gaps on the platform has been The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, which was recently reported that its development has already ended, but it will take a while to arrive.

Dealabs user Billbil-kun, which has a long history of reliably leaking game announcements and other information, says it believes the game has been finished for some time now. According to internal sources, development of the PC version began at least in 2021.

“What's more, and this is the most important information in this article, we believe that the game's development is truly complete and dates back to at least November 2023,” they added.

Speculating on why the PC port was not released alongside the PS5 version and has yet to appear, Billbil-kun wonders if the game will be delayed for release alongside the second season of the HBO series The Last of Us, which is scheduled for 2025.

More of this port of The Last of Us at Summer Game Fest?

It is important to mention that neither Sony nor Naughty Dog have made a statement that they are working on this new port to PC, so we recommend taking this information with caution.

Now… if this is true, there's little chance we'll find out more during Summer Game Fest. Although it was confirmed that Sony/PlayStation will be part of the more than 40 partners of the event, Geoff Keighley confirmed that the This year's Summer Game Fest will only focus on already announced games, leaving aside the “big surprises.”

The event, which will be held on June 7 (at 5 PM Venezuela time) would last around 2 hours and is more geared toward release dates and development updates than expected announcements, according to Geoff Keighley.

“I think overall it will be a little quieter this summer in terms of new announcements… There will definitely be new announcements, but I think the event this year will mainly focus on existing games. Games that already have new updates for their fans.” Geoff explained on the broadcast.

“I consider that the Game Awards have many surprises, generally bigger and more important ones. This Game Fest focuses on things already announced. There will be a lot of absolutely new games throughout the broadcast, but it's not all new stuff.”
