Sony confirms the PlayStation State of Play for this May 30

In 30 minutes they will show news of 14 PS5 and PSVR2 games; and a look at upcoming PlayStation Studios titles

As June approaches, the month of the year where we have the largest number of news-filled events in the video game industry, companies are announcing their own presentation. Right now, Sony has confirmed the date for its State of Play, this being Thursday, May 30.

The live broadcast will show 14 titles and begins at 6 pm Venezuela time. It will last more than 30 minutes, according to Sony. The show will include updates on PS5 and PSVR2 titles, plus a look at PlayStation Studios games coming later this year.

Taking into account that the last State of Play presentation was in January and Sony showed Death Stranding 2, Rise of the Ronin, Stellar Blade and the announcement of a new action and espionage game called Physint by Hideo Kojima, we could already rule out what may or may not appear in this new transmission.

What to expect from this new State of Play?

Among what is expected is the imminent announcement of the arrival of God of War Ragnarok on PC following the release of Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut. We're also likely to see updates to Rise of Ronin, Stellar Blade, and Destiny 2.

Speaking of Destiny, Bungie has replaced the Game Director of Marathon, the reboot of the 1994 title that will become an extraction shooter by having Joe Ziegler, former Game Director of Valorant as new project manager. As well layoffs expected at the studio following the release of Destiny 2's latest expansion: The Final Shape.

Beginnings of May, Sony Interactive Entertainment named Hermen Hulst and Hideaki Nishino as new joint CEOs of the PlayStation business, succeeding Jim Ryan from June 1, 2024, so they will likely also have a presence within the event.
