Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the turn-based RPG that took everyone by surprise

Sandfall Interactive's debut game is inspired by extravagant French art

Revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based RPG that looks extremely exceptional thanks to its artistic section that will arrive on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC sometime in 2025; and its impressive trailer that mixes cinematic and gameplay sequences will make us look forward to it.

Sandfall Interactive, a French studio founded in 2020, launches its first title with the publication of Kepler Interactive.

Developed in Unreal Engine 5, it is clearly inspired by the JRPGs genre, real-time actions in turn-based combat will allow the player to create their own group and level up up to six characters with unique configurations for their expeditioners that adapt to his style of play.

According to its developers, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a “turn-based reactive role-playing game inspired by the lavish art and culture of France's Belle Époque, a period famous for its impressive and lavish contributions to the world-renowned artistic culture of the country".

“As a member of the Expeditioners, who embark on an impossible quest to end the Painter's cycle of death, you will travel through a vast and beautiful fantasy world where you will fight deadly adversaries, befriend legendary creatures, and discover traces of those who came before.”

The story follows Gustave, Maelle and the rest of the expeditionists who only have one year left to live; The player will join them and embark on a desperate mission to stop the cycle of death of the Peintresse. Follow the trail of previous expeditions and discover their destination. He meets the members of Expedition 33 as they learn to cooperate with everything against them.
