The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its deepest rejection of the list that classifies Cuba as a sponsor of terrorism by the government of the United States of America. This decision, lacking any foundation and based on spurious political criteria, constitutes a hostile act and a flagrant violation of international law.

Cuba, throughout its history, has been an example of solidarity, collaboration and fight for peace. Its commitment to combating terrorism is unquestionable and has been recognized by the international community on numerous occasions, providing refuge to victims of terrorism and has actively collaborated in the fight against this scourge in different regions of the world.

The inclusion of Cuba on this list responds solely to the political interests of the US administration, determined to maintain the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba and suffocate the Cuban people. This measure is not only unfair and arbitrary, but also hinders international cooperation in the fight against terrorism.

We demand that the United States government immediately remove Cuba from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism and end its hostile policy. We call on the international community to condemn this decision and defend the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of States.
