Venezuela condemns attack against relatives of the vice president of Colombia

The Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez expressed all the solidarity on the part of the Venezuelan people for her counterpart Francia Márquez

The Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, strongly condemned through her social networks the attack perpetrated against the father and family of the Vice President of Colombia, Francia Márquez Mina.

In the publication, Rodríguez expressed; “Venezuela condemns the cowardly attack against the father and family of the Vice President of Colombia, to whom we extend our solidarity. Violence will never have any justification in a society that seeks peace.”

The attack occurred in the town of Robles, Jamundí (Valle del Cauca), when Sigifredo Márquez Trujillo, father of Francia Márquez, was attacked while he was traveling in a vehicle that received four bullet hits. The Cali Metropolitan Police confirmed the incident and will carry out the relevant investigations.

Vice President Francia Márquez, affected by the event, declared: “My heart hurts that just on this day, they attacked my father.” Fortunately, her father and her companions were unharmed in the attack. But in the same way, Márquez called on the Attorney General's Office and the Colombian Ministry of Defense to intensify investigations and security measures in the affected regions.

For its part, the Venezuelan Government reaffirms its commitment to regional peace and security and reiterates its absolute rejection of any act of violence committed by destabilizing groups that threaten Latin American democracy.
