Russia and Venezuela sign memorandum to counter Coercive Measures

The document, signed by the foreign ministers of Russia, Sergei Lavrov, and of Venezuela, Yván Gil, seeks to create financial and logistical mechanisms immune to external interference.

Venezuela and Russia signed a memorandum of understanding this Tuesday to counteract Unilateral Coercive Measures.

“Instructed by the president @NicolasMaduro and within the framework of the BRICS+ ministerial meeting, we signed, together with the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Sergei Lavrov, a memorandum of understanding on cooperation to counteract Unilateral Coercive Measures. This will allow us to advance in the creation of financial and logistical mechanisms immune to external interference and strengthen our cooperation in areas such as agriculture, medicine, energy and advanced technologies,” says Gil's publication.

The signing of this document takes place within the framework of the meeting of BRICS+ Foreign Ministers, which takes place this June 10 and 11 in the city of Nizhny Novgorod, Russia.

During the meeting, the Russian Foreign Minister specified that the pact "will contribute to common work" between the parties that have had "a good relationship for a long time."

“The most important vector of collaboration is that we create financial and logistical mechanisms resistant to external influence,” which will guarantee the “protection of our ties against the illegitimate actions of the United States and its allies,” he stated.
