Maduro: Signing an agreement before the CNE is a step to protect peace

The Head of State welcomed the willingness of all the directors of the CNE to unanimously subscribe to this document that defends democracy and the people's right to peace.

The candidate of the Homeland, Nicolás Maduro, assured this Thursday that the signed agreement with the National Electoral Council (CNE) and seven of the opposition candidates constitutes a step to prevent the electoral event from being used by undemocratic factors to try to generate acts of violence in the country.

“Today we have taken a step forward to take care of the peace. I celebrate the signature of this document "which is in perfect line with the Barbados document and the Caracas dialogue," he highlighted.

In this sense, he reiterated his willingness to respect the results as well as the call to respect the electoral referee and that "his word is sacred."

"Enough of sabotage against our country, of conspiracies, Venezuela wants peace of mind to continue its economic and social recovery to think about the future," he highlighted.

On the other hand, he welcomed the willingness of all the rectors of the CNE to unanimously subscribe to this document that defends democracy and the people's right to peace.

Opponents respectful of the results

For his part, the opposition candidate Antonio Ecarri welcomed the signing of this agreement while asking the National Electoral Council (CNE) that as part of the electoral campaign debates be organized between the candidates, so that the country has the opportunity to know the proposal of each of the applicants.

For his part, the standard bearer of Copei and Democratic Action, Luis Eduardo Martínez, also ratified his willingness to respect the results of next July 28, while expressing his conviction that the “electoral process will be exemplary.”

“Regardless of the political sign, we must all work so that on July 28 the popular will is expressed at the polls and on July 29 we are all united to work for Venezuela,” he highlighted.
