Attorneys General of Venezuela and Cuba sign Cooperation Program

The Venezuelan Prosecutor showed his counterpart the work that has been carried out to guarantee access to justice and respect for Human Rights in the country

The attorneys general of Venezuela, Tarek William Saab, and of Cuba, Jamila Peña Ojeda, held a meeting this Thursday to sign a cooperation program between both institutions.

The cooperation program will remain in force until 2026 and contemplates the development of specializations and master's degrees, jointly, between the national school of the Attorney General's Office of Cuba and the national school of prosecutors of the Public Ministry of Venezuela.

In this sense, during the meeting the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, showed his counterpart everything the work that has been carried out from his office to guarantee access to justice and respect for Human Rights in the country.

Likewise, Saab explained how the “El Public ministry goes to your community” and “Public Ministry Attends to your complaint in your Parish” have served to bring the population closer to justice.

For her part, the Cuban official highlighted that, both in Venezuela and Cuba, the owners of criminal cases carry out their work based on respect for the rights of people.

Likewise, he thanked the reception he has received in our country while highlighting the cooperation that exists between both nations.

The Attorney General, Tarek William Saab, also highlighted that during the visit of his Cuban counterpart, a tour was taken of the National School of Prosecutors of the Public Ministry and a tribute was paid to the Liberator Simón Bolívar at the National Pantheon, Caracas.

It should be noted that the program signed between the parties includes, for the coming year 2025, that a delegation from the National School of Prosecutors of the Public Ministry participate in the XVI International Meeting of Criminal Sciences 2025 and IV Legality, Law and Society Event that will be held carried out through presentations and conferences in Cuba.

For its part, Venezuela will be in charge of receiving and organizing international seminars and exchange of experiences between both institutions, under the name “Confronting transnational organized crime. Money Laundering, Drug Trafficking and Terrorism, and Special Investigation Techniques, and the preparation of prosecutors to guarantee effectiveness in this confrontation”… By 2026, it is planned that the two institutions will execute 2 new agreements and cooperation programs that will be an example of transnational fight against transnational crime
