Iranian Embassy opens book of condolence for Raisi's death

The embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Venezuela opened the book of condolence for the people to express their sorrow and words of encouragement for the death of Iranian President Sayed Ebrahim Raisi, after the unfortunate plane crash where he lost his life.

President Raisi along with Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian and 6 other people lost their lives this Sunday due to an accident in their helicopter near the border with Azerbaijan, in the northwest of the country.

According to the information, Ayatollah Seyyed Mohammad-Ali Al-Hashem, Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, Governor of the Iranian province of East Azerbaijan Malek Rahmati, two employees of the president's protection corps, a pilot, a co-pilot and a technical officer died in the accident.

After the tragic death of Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian, the Governing Council approved the candidacy of Ali Bagheri Kani as Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs on Monday.

A spokesperson for the Iranian Government informed the IRNA agency that the diplomat was also appointed as head of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Government of the Islamic Republic.
