Ombudsman and Attorney General of Cuba held a meeting

They exchanged information on judicial matters and the defense of Human Rights

The Ombudsman, Alfredo Ruiz, held a meeting with the Attorney General of the Republic of Cuba, Yamila Peña Ojeda, in order to exchange knowledge on judicial matters and the defense of Human Rights.

According to a press release of this institutionDuring the meeting, Ruiz explained that the work carried out from his office consists of formulating before the State bodies the necessary recommendations and observations for the effective protection of human rights.

In this sense, he stressed that this institution has the National School of Human Rights, where training and tools are provided to citizens to defend themselves against any type of discrimination and/or violation of their rights.

For her part, the Cuban official, during the meeting, explained the functions of the Attorney General's Office of her country and the points that are common in the fulfillment of legal functions. She also commented that the island is in a broad legislative process, in which the family code was recently approved, an important step in the protection of everyone.
