CNE revokes invitation to the EU as observer and declares its presence unwelcome

The president of the electoral body, Elvis Amoroso, stated that the decision is due to the exercise of sovereignty and interests of the people.

The National Electoral Council (CNE) agreed to ratify the broad call to more than 200 organizations and personalities, identified with human rights, and announced the revocation of the invitation it made to the European Union (EU), considering that it maintains a colonialist position after ratifying the coercive, unilateral sanctions against the Venezuelan people.

This was announced by the president of the CNE, Elvis Amoroso, after reading an official statement from the Electoral Branch where the EU was also required to proceed with the lifting of unilateral sanctions. For this reason, the invitation is void since they consider that it would be immoral to allow their participation taking into account their neocolonialist practices.

“It is a public, notorious and communicational fact that on May 13 of this year, the European Union in its historical colonialist position ratified the coercive, unilateral and genocidal sanctions dictated to the worthy people of Venezuela, a situation that threatens its inhabitants, the sovereignty and independence of our Nation. As a consequence of this, the Electoral Power of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela revokes and nullifies the invitation it extended to the European Union to participate, through an Electoral Oversight Mission, in the election of the position of President of the Bolivarian Republic. of
Venezuela, decision adopted in the exercise of our sovereignty and interests of the
people,” reads the text of the statement.

“The sovereign decision of the National Electoral Council to revoke and nullify the invitation that was extended to the European Union to participate through an electoral oversight mission in an election for the position of President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is ratified. "Because it would be immoral to allow their participation knowing their neocolonialist and interventionist practices against Venezuela," the president of the electoral power pointed out.

Amoroso reported that the statement will be sent immediately to the EU, indicating that their presence is not welcome in the upcoming electoral process, as long as the sanctions remain in place.

Amoroso said that personalities from the 5 continents have been invited, who will accompany the electoral process.

Among them, people linked to human rights, university professors and those who speak out internationally against the sanctions.

He pointed out that the invitation remains valid for organizations and delegations as long as they comply with the Constitution and Venezuelan laws.

He reiterated that the Electoral Power once again calls on the electoral institutions and governments of the world to participate as observers in the election where the
noble Venezuelan people will elect the Constitutional President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, such as: Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Inter-American Union of Electoral Organizations (UNIORE), United Nations Panel of Experts , African Union, Carter Center, Council of Electoral Experts of Latin America (CEELA) and the Observatory of
Strategic Thinking for Regional Integration (OPEIR), among others.
