Chancellor: Venezuela is a reliable partner for the Brics group

Yván GIl highlighted Venezuela's loyalty to the principles of independence, friendship, solidarity and shared interests of the Brics

Venezuela reiterated this Tuesday its interest in joining the Brics group as a full member.

This was stated by the Chancellor of the Republic, Yván Gil, at the meeting of ministers of the block of countries, which takes place in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia.

Gil highlighted Venezuela's proven loyalty to the Brics' principles of independence, friendship, solidarity and shared interests.

In this sense, he assured "we are and will be a reliable partner, with strength and political determination to promote inclusive multilateralism, the defense of international law, the demand for greater representation of emerging countries and developing economies in the United Nations system, as well as the strengthening of the BRICS as an alliance for mutually accelerated growth.

Gil indicated that Venezuela puts at the command of the Brics its extensive experience in regional integration processes, such as the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, the Union of South American Nations, the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Trade Treaty of the Peoples and Petrocaribe.

Likewise, he said that Venezuela ratifies its willingness to contribute to the Brics its extensive natural resources, including the world's first certified oil reserve, the sixth of gas, as well as abundant mineral resources, such as iron, copper, silver, bauxite, coltan , nickel, rhodium, titanium, among others.

“The geographical position is another element to highlight for its assessment as a potential gateway and connection for South, Central and Caribbean America,” said the chancellor, who highlighted that Venezuela would be “the second nation on the American continent to be part of such a prestigious group, to contribute to the necessary and indispensable balance of the universe as proposed more than 200 years ago by The Liberator, Simón Bolívar, promoter of multipolarity.”

The Venezuelan foreign minister added that the BRICS are called to become the driving force for the democratization of the world economy, as well as the defense of sovereignty and equality between states.
