Ángel Prado new minister for Communes and Social Movements

The Head of State specified that it is essential for the Commune to strengthen and grow "we are going to restructure everything that needs to be restructured."

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, announced the appointment of the mayor of Sarare (Simón Planas municipality of Lara state) as the new Minister of Popular Power for Communes and Social Movements.

Maduro during the ceremony to begin the Sowing Plan for the 2024-2025 winter cycle, where the mayor was present, stated “I need to head the main construction battalion of the communes, the communal councils, to head the Ministry of the Communes a líder that comes from the grassroots, with a successful project like the Communal El Maizal,” he highlighted.

The Head of State specified that it is essential for the Commune to strengthen and grow and that is why he said that the new minister will have full support “to change what needs to be changed.”

After thanking the previous head of the Communes, he indicated that “now Ángel Prado is coming with a new team, we are going to restructure everything that needs to be restructured, to change everything that needs to be changed.”

He emphasized that it is essential that the projects work and that the financing arrives.

For his part, Prado stated that during the popular consultation, it was the Simón Planas municipality that came in first place and reported that the resources for the projects to be executed have already arrived.

He said that numerous communes are interested in having the First National President visit them, to which he responded "I give you my agenda, you take me to the communes that I need to go to, that is my job."

The Head of State announced that a popular consultation will be held in the communes on a quarterly basis.

Ángel Prado is a community member and PSUV activist who, in primary elections, was elected with 47,99% of the votes to be the candidate for mayor of Simón Planas in regional and local elections on November 21, 2021, in which was the winner.

In his account on the IG social network he describes himself as “a community member, a Chavista at heart and a revolutionary by conviction.”

Prado was also part of the Francisco de Miranda Front.

Prado was a deputy in the 2017 Constituent Assembly.
