ALBA-TCP repudiates new sanctions against the people of Nicaragua

These measures by Washington seek to alter Nicaragua's legitimate right to development, ALBA states in a statement.

The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), rejected the new Unilateral Coercive Measures (MCU) of the US Government against the people of Nicaragua.

“The new arsenal of unilateral and illegal sanctions that the United States government has imposed on Nicaraguan citizens and companies,” says a statement issued by the ALBA-TCP, posted on its digital networks.

The Bolivarian Alliance details that, in less than two months, Washington once again attacks this sister nation; measures that seek to alter Nicaragua's legitimate right to development.

Here is the full text of the statement:

The member states of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) categorically reject the new arsenal of unilateral and illegal sanctions that the United States government has imposed on Nicaraguan citizens and companies .

In less than two months, Washington once again attacks this sister nation, a member of our Bolivarian Alliance, through a series of unilateral coercive measures directed against companies, such as the Compañía Minera Internacional and Capital Mining Investment Nicaragua and more than 250 public officials , including police, prosecutors, judges, among others.

These joint measures by the Departments of State and the Treasury of the United States seek to alter the economic and political stability of this country, to hinder its legitimate right to development.

As an unusual complement, the United States government attacks and issues sanctions against institutions of other States that carry out economic activities in Nicaraguan territory, disrespecting Nicaragua's sovereign right to choose its commercial allies and international investors.

The Bolivarian Alliance demands respect for the sovereignty of the free peoples of Our America and the Caribbean, while reaffirming its unrestricted support and solidarity with the people and the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity of the Republic of Nicaragua.
