imperial plunder

It seems like something out of a movie but it is not, in June 2023, former President Donald Trump, in an improvised press conference, gave some statements that without hypocrisy reveal the level of aggression of his Government against Venezuela: “How do you think we are buying oil? to Venezuela? When I left, Venezuela was ready to collapse. We would have seized it. We would have taken all their oil. But now we buy oil from Venezuela. We are making a very rich dictator. Can you believe it? Nobody can believe it.”

US Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley (2021) declared that the Western Hemisphere “belongs to us and no one else, and we stand shoulder to shoulder in that common cause to protect it from any international threat.”

The head of the Southern Command, Laura Richardson, from a position of domination and imperial plunder, referring to the resources of Latin America and the Caribbean, speaks of “we have,” as if they were the owners “of the lithium that is in Argentina, Bolivia , Chile, of 31% of the world's fresh water in this region and the forests of the Amazon that are the lungs of the world and of course of the oil and gold of Venezuela.

With the presidency of Harry Truman (1945-1953) and Nazi Germany defeated, the United States created a new enemy and a new form and atmosphere of war: the Soviet Union and the Cold War.

Truman, with this new reality, created a great cooperation in the management of internal and foreign security policies that denatured the Federal State of Government, which would respond to a bipolar world that combined the economic elite and the military-industrial complex (which included the Council of Chiefs of Staff, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the National Security Council). That reality gave the military discretion over the war they had just fought.

The Second World War, the destruction and subsequent reconstruction of Europe catapulted the United States as a world economic power and consolidated the experiment in corporate governance introduced by President Truman.

Our hypothesis about this interpretation is that with Truman a true soft coup d'état was created in the US, in which corporations, the military and political elite govern independently of the party that wins the elections.
