The drug of choice

A phrase is attributed to John D Rockefeller that could have an example in contemporary Venezuela: “The best way to exploit oil is an oil dictatorship.” According to many historians and social analysts, all coups d'état in Venezuela (20th and 21st centuries) have been related to oil.

It is also not a secret that oil is the source of energy, the organic compound (with a secret ingredient: violence) on which the “American way of life” is supported and with which the foundations of foreign policy are amalgamated, national security, the domestic and global economy of the United States.

In an unusual excess of reality, United States President George W Bush, in his State of the Union address (31/01/2006), gave the nation a cold bath when he said: “…And here “We have a serious problem: the United States is addicted to oil, which is often imported from unstable parts of the world.”

The metaphor (addiction) and the resulting imagery (ethyl alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, fentanyl, etc.) are brutal. And to think that 18 years after Bush's speech, the United States is the largest consumer of oil in the world and, as a curious fact, barely surpassed by all the founders of the Brics combined (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa). Oil is definitely the drug of choice.

This addiction to the “energy drug” (oil) led the powers behind the Bush government to carry out a coup against President Hugo Chávez (April 2002); to the war, invasion and overthrow of the Iraqi government, with the assassination of Saddam Hussein (2003). The oil war has a long history of violence dating back to the XNUMXth century.

The United States is drug dependent, a dialectical weakness that ties it to the supply of foreign oil, a dependence that strips it and makes it increasingly dangerous because they go for all energy sources: oil, water, gas, coal, atomic, electricity, etc. .

Our proposals: get out of the narrative and dominance of the dollar; seek greater control of our resources, sell as little oil as possible, create the University of Energy and Defense of Nature, review and transform our style or way of life.
