Everything ready for the elections in the Dominican Republic this Sunday

Dominicans will elect a president, senators and deputies for the next four years.

The president of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) of the Dominican Republic, Román Jáquez Liranzo, reported this Friday that all the logistics are in place for the elections on Sunday, May 19, in which the president of that nation will be elected, as well as senators and deputies, for the next four years.

Jáquez said that the suitcases with the materials will be taken to the polling stations starting this Saturday and assured that that same day, in the presence of the delegates of the political parties, a test of the scanning, digitizing, printing and transmission equipment will be carried out ( EDET).

Through a video on social networks, the official expressed: "This Sunday, May 19, choose to vote, go to your polling station and exercise your right for democracy, it is a right and it is a duty, because democracy is voting."

Jáquez asserted that the suitcases will remain in the electoral centers under the custody of the Military Electoral Police.

People residing in Europe will vote first, but the results will be given starting at 20:30 p.m., local time, with the issuance of the first bulletin.

“The process abroad has three constituencies. Number 3 Europe will begin voting at 2:00 in the morning Dominican time, 08:00 in the morning local time and will conclude at 05:00 in the afternoon,” she added.

On the other hand, the National Director of Elections, Mario Núñez, highlighted the importance of not incurring violations of the law during the process.

Núñez stressed that more than 1.200 secretaries and presidents of electoral boards were replaced by trained citizens selected from the database.

For next Sunday's elections, more than 400 international observers are in the Dominican Republic.
