They ask to supervise agreements signed by the president of Ecuador with the IMF

Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities presented to Parliament the draft Law on Prior, Free and Informed Consultation and Consent

The president of the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (Conaie), Leonidas Iza, called on the National Assembly to supervise the agreements signed by President Daniel Noboa with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Conaie carried out a mobilization towards Parliament Ecuadorian to present the draft Law on Prior, Free and Informed Consultation and Consent.

“The national government secretly signed 43 agreements with the International Monetary Fund from the Ecuadorian people and said that it will keep the information hidden,” Iza told the media.

In addition, he warned that this represents more poverty for the population, that they cannot access education "because in the downsizing of the State there is no money to guarantee social policies, they cannot access health, they cannot access minimum conditions."

However, he noted that there is a structural effort by the State “to guarantee the agreements with the International Monetary Fund.”

Iza reported that next week the Conaie assembly will meet to make decisions, reiterating that it is not only about the measure taken by the Noboa Government regarding the elimination of subsidies, but that "it is an entire impoverishing package for the majority of the Ecuadorian people”, he reviewed Telesur

On Tuesday, in several cities in the country, there were protests and road blockades to express rejection of the decision of the Government of Ecuador to increase gasoline prices, a measure that had already been condemned by social organizations in the country.
