Iranians voted to elect a new president

More than 61 million Iranians were called to the polls, highlights Hispan TV.

In Iran, citizens went out to vote to elect their new president in early elections due to the death of President Ebrahim Raisi.

The voting centers opened their doors this Friday at eight in the morning, to receive the Iranians who came to choose Raisi's successor among four candidates; the mainites Mohamad Baqer Qalibaf and Said Jalili, the reformist Masud Pezeshkian and the independent Mostafa Purmohamadi.

More than 61 million Iranians were called to the polls, highlights Hispan TV.

All four candidates have promised to revive the weakened economy and overcome sanctions, which have been tightened since 2018, after the United States abandoned Iran's nuclear pact with six world powers.
