Hezbollah: Nowhere in Israel will be safe in case of war

The escalation of tensions in the Middle East has taken a new direction following Israeli attacks on Lebanon.

The head of Lebanese Hezbollah, Hasan Nasrallah, warned that “no place” in Israel would be safe from the Islamist group's missiles if the Israeli government implemented its offensive plans against Lebanon. He reiterated, however, that his movement is not seeking open war with Israel.

“The enemy knows very well that we have prepared for the worst (…) and that there will be no place (…) safe from our rockets,” Nasrallah said in a televised speech, adding that shots against the Jewish state could be fired from “land, air and sea”.

Hezbollah warns Cyprus

Nasrallah also threatened to retaliate against Cyprus if the small European Union island nation authorized Israel to use its airports and bases to attack.

“Opening Cypriot airports and bases to the Israeli enemy to attack Lebanon would mean that the Cypriot government is part of the war and the resistance will consider it as part of the war,” Nasrallah warned.

The Israeli army announced on Tuesday that it was planning an “offensive” against Hezbollah, after weeks of intensifying shooting from both sides of the border.

The border between Israel and Lebanon has been the scene of almost daily artillery duels since the beginning on October 7 of the armed conflict in the Gaza Strip between Israel and the Islamist movement Hamas, an ally of Hezbollah.
