Cuba sells five million doses of its Abdala vaccine to Vietnam

Cuba will supply Vietnam with its Abdala anticovid-19 vaccine through a contract signed this Monday in Havana, which initially establishes the purchase of five million doses of that drug by the Asian country.

The president of Vietnam, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, who began his first official visit to Cuba on Saturday, attended the signing of the agreement between the Cuban Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) and the Center for Research on Biological Products and Vaccines (Polyvac ) of the Asian nation, refers EFE.

This export agreement is part of the biotechnology, health and economic area agreements signed during Phuc's stay on the island.

The former president of the Republic, Raúl Castro, held a meeting with the president of Vietnam, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, before ending his visit today, which had as its last act the tribute he paid with a wreath at the tomb of the leader of the Cuban revolution Fidel Castro, in the cemetery of the eastern city Santiago de Cuba.

Representatives of the Ministries of Public Health of Cuba (Minsap) and Vietnam spoke today about the confrontation with the covid-19 pandemic and with the aim of strengthening and expanding collaboration in the sector.

During the meeting, they ratified the will and interest to increase collaboration in the areas of science and technology, training of human resources, prevention and control of infectious diseases, medical assistance in primary health care and hospitals, indicated PrensaLatina.

Likewise, other spheres such as biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and the development of comprehensive programs in the regions that demand it and the promotion of foreign investment projects in the sector were included.
