Three deaths confirmed by Tropical Storm Alberto in Mexico

The governor of Nuevo León reported that the deceased are three minors

Samuel García, governor of the state of Nuevo León, located northeast of Mexico, confirmed that at least three people died as a result of the heavy rains caused by Tropical Storm Alberto.

In statements to local media on Wednesday, the official explained that the deceased are three minors, of which two were reported in the Allende municipality and one in Monterrey.

“Unfortunately (there are) three deaths that could have been avoided, three minors who were playing. We urge parents to be extremely careful. For something, classes were suspended, it is not an ordinary rain, it is a tropical cyclone,” he emphasized, quoted by Telesur.

García urged the population to take shelter as the forecast is for more than 30 hours of intense rain. “The strongest is just coming,” he stressed.

For its part, the National Coordination of Civil Protection had reported that more than 300 municipalities in some five Mexican states were on alert due to heavy rains.

In turn, the National Meteorological Service, in its most recent report, indicated that Tropical Storm Alberto “made landfall at 04:30 in the morning today, in the vicinity of Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas.”

Meteorological authorities also predict that in much of Mexico Specific winds and rains will be recorded, which may be intense, strong or very strong, during the next few hours.
