Venezuela rejects interference from the United States Government

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically and energetically rejects the interventionist pretensions of the Government of the United States by promoting spurious and misleading offers of financing for national university academic training, announced by a ghostly office called Venezuela Affairs Unit (VAU)-PDS -NOFO Number FY2024VE006, which also perfidiously declares a “peaceful and democratic transition of the country.”

The Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela enshrines and recognizes the public interest of science, technology, knowledge, innovation and its applications of public interest, fundamental instruments for the economic, social and political development of the country, as well as for the national security and sovereignty. In this sense, it is the Venezuelan State that formulates public policies aimed at solving the country's specific and structural problems and is the only one authorized to develop the necessary and prioritized scientific-technological competencies established by the Organic Law of Science, Technology and Innovation. .

The Venezuelan people do not need federal assistance from the government of the United States of America, which extraterritorially applies unilateral coercive measures and which, with double standards, does not promote scientific-academic collaboration treaties that bring the people together!

Premeditatedly, as on other occasions, the democratic, plural and inclusive nature of the national university sector and our robust National System of Science, Technology and Innovation is ignored, based on the principles of our Constitution and its body of laws, which sentence education as a human right, free, comprehensive, of quality, permanent, under equal conditions, opportunities and at the same time the achievement of the most diverse lines of research in all areas of knowledge, from Natural Sciences, through Medical and Human Sciences. Health, Social Sciences, even Engineering and Technology, to advance the country's transformation processes.

From the National Educational System, with pride and dignity, despite the 936 Unilateral Coercive Measures imposed by those who today, with double standards and without promoting scientific collaboration treaties, intend to finance the sovereign education of Venezuela, we encourage admirable and continuous calls for innovative research through scholarships at all educational levels and all sectors of the country with a broad response from the worthy Venezuelan people.

This new, illegal and shameless North American interference also tries to create false imaginaries and confusion in our population of young students and researchers, deceiving through an illegitimate offer that tramples all forms of civilized relations between republics, since it is a call that announces intended “transitions” as an unacceptable threat in the framework of an upcoming democratic election day that will demonstrate, this July 28 once again, the sovereign spirit of our institutions, of Venezuelans.

Finally, we make a patriotic call to the entire national educational and scientific community, to the university sector, to its support institutions, unions, and teachers' associations, to categorically reject these insolent attacks on the Venezuelan people and their intellectuals.
