Venezuela participates in the 77th World Health Assembly

Under the motto "All for Health, Health for All", the 77th World Health Assembly (WHA) is being held in the city of Geneva, Switzerland, starting today, May 27, until June 01, 2024. , where the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is present, together with other invited countries, where they will have the floor to communicate to the entire world proposals on preparation for possible pandemics, climate change and other priority health issues.

During the 77th WHA, a series of strategic roundtables will be held, where Assembly delegates, partner agencies and experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) will discuss current and future public health priorities. of global importance.

Assembly participants will work collaboratively for six days to develop strategies and policies that improve the health of populations around the world. Efforts to strengthen health systems, ensure universal health coverage, and promote innovation in medical research are highlighted.

For its part, the Venezuelan medical delegation is represented by the Vice Minister of Comprehensive Health, Dr. Yuliana Ramos and the Vice Minister of Collective Health, Dr. Jesús Osteicochea.

Venezuela's participation in the 77th World Health Assembly is crucial to address current challenges and work to build a more solid and accessible health system for all citizens. It is expected that the discussions and agreements reached during this meeting will contribute to improving the health situation in the country and the region.

It should be noted that our model of direct medical care in the communities is innovative and that it has been able to respond to the needs of the people despite the economic blockade and all the unilateral coercive measures (MCU) that the North American government and its allies have imposed on us, which They have insisted on plunging the country into a political and economic crisis that causes a direct negative impact on the National Public Health System (SPNS), with a shortage of medicines, infrastructure maintenance and lack of resources to care for the population.

The deliberations of this 77th WHA will be broadcast live from this WHO website. Simultaneous interpretation services will be available in Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, French, English and Russian. The sessions can be followed live from May 27 to June 1 of this year.

It should be remembered that the WHA is the decision-making body of the WHO, attended by delegations from all Member States of this organization and dealing, in particular, with a specific health agenda prepared by the Executive Board. The main functions of the AMS are to determine the policies of the Organization, appoint the Director General, supervise financial policies and review and adopt the proposed program budget. This is held annually in Geneva (Switzerland).
