The Minister for Health, Carlos Alvarado reported that until May 31 will be the vaccination days of the Americas, aimed at children and pregnant women in the country, as part of the strengthening of health policies, used by the Bolivarian Government , during the working day this Tuesday, chaired by the National President, Nicolás Maduro.
Alvarado announced that more than 1 million Venezuelan children will be vaccinated for free throughout the national territory.
The minister stressed that "5.440 vaccination points are already in place at the national level, prioritizing biosecurity measures." He also stressed that in the operations 12 vaccines are being given free of charge, essential to reinforce the health of children and pregnant women.
On the other hand, the official presented a balance in which he announced the low vaccination figures that occurred in 2020 due to the covid-19 pandemic. In this sense, he urged mothers not to stop vaccinating their little ones. "Even with a pandemic, we must strengthen the vaccination process in the country," he said.
Similarly, he assured that Venezuela is free of Measles and Diphtheria, certified by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). “Since 2019 we have no measles cases and since the third week of 2020 we have no diphtheria cases. This has been thanks to the permanent vaccination policy ”, he indicated.
On the other hand, the head of the Health portfolio explained that among the vaccines given to infants are: against diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, influenza, anti-polio, measles, rubella, yellow fever. For pregnant women and children from 10 years toxoid.
The Minister of Health added that access to vaccines for children is guaranteed in our country thanks to the United Nations (UN), specifically UNICEF and all vaccines are guaranteed during the year 2021.
For his part, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, announced that the Sputnik Light vaccines and Johnson & Johnson's Janssen vaccine against Covid-19 will soon arrive in the country, which have the advantage that they deserve a single dose.
Maduro warned that "we cannot lower our guard, we must achieve a balance between quarantine and flexibility, the best method is 7 + 7".
The National President hopes that in the coming months “they will be an offensive for vaccination in the country. The time will come to remove the mask, but according to the World Health Organization (WHO) that moment has not come, nor will it come yet ”.
At another point, referring to health care in Venezuela, Maduro indicated that “1 year ago I proposed to expand the public health system, we must recover all IDU, CRS, CAT and outpatient clinics. Everyone should have their doors open ”.
