Venezuela reaches milestone of 1 million Arrau and Terecay turtles released

The historic milestone allows progress in the 5th objective of the Homeland Plan, which seeks to guarantee the conservation of biological diversity

Venezuela reached the historical milestone of 1 million Arrau and Terecay turtles released, which allows progress in the "5th objective of the Homeland Plan, which seeks to guarantee the conservation of biological diversity" on the planet, reported the Minister for Ecososialism , Josué Lorca in a post on the X network.

“Milestone, One Million Turtles Released! “We celebrate a historic milestone in the conservation of continental turtles: The release of one million Arrau and Terecay turtles!” added Lorca in the aforementioned digital network.

It should be noted that the emblematic moment took place this Friday, where the ecosocialist management team moved to the Arrau Wildlife Refuge and Protective Zone of the Arrau Turtle in the state of Bolívar, to release 21.000 specimens between the arrau and terecay species.

Lorca explained that to date, 984.021 Arrau turtles and 104.767 Terecay turtles have been released, "and today we released 21.000 turtles in Playa Cuba, this success is the result of collaborative work between the program, the indigenous communities and the Bolivarian Government."

In this same order, he maintained that the release of one million turtles represents a crucial step towards the recovery of their populations and the preservation of their invaluable role in the ecosystem.

This achievement has been achieved thanks to the determined support of President Maduro, stressed Lorca, who recalled that the work has also been carried out through the “tireless work of the Continental Turtle Conservation Program, initiated in 1989 in the Wildlife Refuge and Zone. Protector of the Arrau Turtle, located in the Orinoco between Apure and Bolívar.”
