Rains cause flooding in Caracas

Caracas firefighters urged the population to report incidents through 911

The rains recorded this Thursday in the capital city caused flooding in some areas of Caracas, La Guaira and Miranda, authorities and users reported on digital platforms.

Such was the case of Plaza Venezuela where Civil Protection officials toured the El Recreo parish of the Libertador municipality where flooding was observed due to obstruction of the drainage system on the bridge in said sector.

Likewise, social media users reported flooding in different areas of the city, one of them was on the main avenue of Las Mercedes, which was flooded after the intense rainfall.

The same situation was experienced on the Caracas-La Guaira Highway, where the completely cloudy sky and the downpour could be seen, as evidenced in videos shared by Internet users on X.

The rain was also felt strongly in Catia (Sucre parish), Los Chaguaramos (San Pedro) and La Urbina (Sucre municipality of Miranda state).

Advancement of the tropical wave from the east to the center of the country

According to the forecast provided by meteorologist Luis Vargas, the advance of the tropical wave from the east to the center of the country can be seen, the phenomenon caused rains in Monagas, Sucre, Nueva Esparta, Guárico, Carabobo, Cojedes, Portuguesa, Barinas, Apure , Falcón and Zulia.

The Commander of the Caracas Firefighters, Pablo Antonio Palacios, urged the community to report any emergency situation through the account @CPabloPalacios or the number 911.

It should be noted that according to a report carried out by the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inameh), nuclei generating heavy rains accompanied by storm activity can be seen in Miranda, la Guaira, Dto. Capital, Aragua and Carabobo. Conditions expected to persist for the next 3 hours.

It is important to remember that the Early Warning System has action protocols for emergencies and is classified by color, according to its level of risk for the population.

The rainfall is part of the rainy season that began in the country and has been felt more strongly in recent days, due to the passage of several tropical waves.
