Executive approved resources to serve Catholic and evangelical churches

The figure amounts to more than 5 million euros for the intervention of prayer spaces that so far reaches 3 religious structures.

The resources approved by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, for the comprehensive rehabilitation of Catholic and Christian Churches in the context of the Great Venezuela Bella Mission (GMVB) amount to 5 million 916 thousand 245 euros.

In this way, the intervention of prayer spaces will be expanded, which, so far, reaches 3 religious structures in the national territory, of which 565 belong to the Evangelical Church and 2 to the Catholic Christian Church, reported Presidential Press. .

The balance presented by the Head of State is part of the visit he will make – on Saturday, June 1 – to the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Chiquinquirá, located in the state of Zulia. Precisely, as a result of their assistance, the approval of the execution of works corresponding to the second and third stages of recovery is derived.

In this regard, the parish priest of the Basilica Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Chiquinquirá, Nedward Andrade, explained that the rehabilitation work will be aimed at the restoration of the paintings arranged on the ceilings, walls and niches of the La Chinita sanctuary.

Likewise, the president of the Venezuela Bella Mission, Jacqueline Faría, pointed out that significant progress has been made in the intervention of the structure, particularly in the bench area and the façade of the Basilica.

La Chinita Monument

In order to promote religious connection, as well as create new spaces for the reception of national and international tourists, the Venezuelan president announced the construction of a monument in tribute to the Virgin of Chiquinquirá in the Ana María Campos Monumental Park.

He explained that it will be inspired by the Manto de María Monument, dedicated to the Divine Shepherdess, in the state of Lara, considered the largest in Venezuela, surpassing the Monument of the Virgin of Peace, located in the state of Trujillo.

He stressed, in this sense, that they will call a competition aimed at architects and sculptors to carry out the project, as part of the third stage of the Ana María Campos Park.

Recovered churches

Within the framework of the recovery of churches carried out by the Mission in Zulia, the president of the GMVB Jacqueline Faria, recalled that the National Government immediately attended to the church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Aranza Sucre, which collapsed in the month of August 2023 and was recovered and inaugurated last weekend, becoming number 761 recovered by the Mission nationwide.

“It is a beautiful church, which collapsed on August 17 of last year. "That is a church that has a tower that is the bell tower and has a single central nave, they put waterproofing on it and it couldn't hold up and it collapsed (...) They reported it to me in real time and you gave an immediate response."

A curious fact is that once the structure of the Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Aranza Sucre church, 60 years after it was built, gave way at its bases, under the rubble the residents found – in perfect condition – the altarpiece of the virgin of Santa Rita, which dates back 200 years.

The inhabitants of the Santa Rita Municipality thanked President Maduro for this noble work.

“I want to say thank you president, a very nice job. I am a witness that they worked from seven in the morning until 10 at night. They did not spare any type of resource and I saw that the workers identified with the work they were doing. God, who is a good payer, will richly reward what you have done.”

Pastoral Center “San Juan de Dios”

With his signature, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, authorized the loan – for a period of 50 years – of the building that served as the headquarters of the National Housing Institute (INAVI) for the construction of the “San Juan de Dios” Pastoral Social Center. ”, adjacent to the Basilica Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Chiquinquirá.

Located in Maracaibo, capital of the state of Zulia, the meeting space will not only have a religious vocation, since it will serve to serve the vulnerable population through social, educational, productive, cultural and tourist events, the latter considering that it plans a hostel for those who visit the sanctuary from La Chinita.

“They asked me to transfer a building that is exactly next door on loan, when I passed by there I saw the building as abandoned (…) It was the old INAVI headquarters, I remembered that it was burned in the guarimbas of 2017, they put a candle to all the apartments, an irrational thing like hatred and violence," said the Head of State, pointing out that, as a result of the vandalism of radical sectors, "all the files of the homes to be built and assigned were lost."

The structure that “was left in ruins” will now witness the “rebirth of hope” through the “San Juan de Dios” Pastoral Social Center, whose construction must be completed in record time “with the highest technical, structural, and human quality.” and Christian.”

“(…) So that the Church and the Basilica of La Chinita pay attention to the people of Maracaibo, especially those most in need,” said the Venezuelan president, who entrusted the execution of the task to the president of the Venezuela Bella Mission. , Jacqueline Faría.

The 10.000 square meter structure is comprised of two four-story buildings. It is planned to install soup kitchens, mainly for the elderly, as well as gaitero training schools and museums that contain a sample of the mantles of the Virgin of Chiquinquirá.
