Sixth Sheep and Goat Fair of Barquisimeto showed genetic growth

The event organized by the Mayor's Office of Iribarren involved 1.760 sheep and goats.

The Sixth Barquisimeto Sheep and Goat Fair, recently held in the city, showed the exponential genetic growth of the sector, highlighted this Thursday in a press release from the Iribarren Mayor's Office reported by AVN.

He noted that this fair “highlighted the massive participation of animals and their exponential genetic growth, as well as dairy products derived from this important livestock sector.”

The event, which was organized by the Mayor's Office of Iribarren, lasted five days and was attended by approximately 112.000 people, with the participation of 1.760 sheep and goats.

Renowned international judges participated, who contributed to the judging of sheep and goat phenotypes, the milk production competition and the dairy derivatives competition, in which 28 categories were awarded.

Among the notable champions of the fair are Michel Teló from Aprisco La Milagrosa, who was crowned Supreme Goat Champion; Blissberry LY Hot To Trot by Aprisco DS was titled Supreme Goat Champion; Antonio from Proyecto Ubre Supreme Sheep Champion and Esther from Aprisco JC Bravo as Supreme Sheep Champion, among others.

The Mayor's Office of Iribarren, through the public company Abastecer, obtained awards for its specimens in various categories. In the Mestiza Lechera, Narcisa from Abastecer obtained first place in the 3 to 6 months category. In the Nubian Race, Tiana from Supply also achieved first place.

The president of the Barquisimeto Tourism Corporation (Cortubar), Adriana Castellanos, reported that the event generated a good level of occupancy in the hotels near the Bicentennial Fair Complex, reaching an average of 65% during the weekend.

He stated that this sheep and goat fair was positioned as a true showcase to show the potential that “we have in this flock, which is called the flock of the future. The visitors were able to enjoy and see all this wonder of specimens that we have in the country,” said Castellanos.
