4.2 earthquake was felt in several regions of the center of the country

Funvisis reported that the phenomenon had its epicenter 37 km from La Tortuga Island and was felt throughout the coastal mountain range.

This Sunday an earthquake of magnitude 54.2 was felt in some areas of the center of the country, and according to a report from the Venezuelan Foundation for Seismological Research (Funvisis), it occurred 37 km southwest of Isla la Tortuga.

The phenomenon was recorded at 14:31 p.m. this Sunday, May 19, and had a depth of 7,8 kilometers. The earthquake was felt in several areas of the state of Miranda, the state of La Guaira and the city of Caracas.

M/G Carlos Pérez Ampueda, vice minister for Risk Management and Civil Protection, reported that the earthquake was also felt throughout the coastal mountain range and the states of Sucre and Monagas.

He added that there is no report of damage to any type of infrastructure, buildings or people, but that the teams of the National Risk Management System remain on alert for any possible aftershock.
