Grandparents from Nueva Esparta were cared for full day

Different national institutions together with the Bolivarian mayor's office of Gómez provided comprehensive attention to the trees of knowledge

In the Sucre parish, Gómez municipality of Nueva Esparta state, more than 600 older adults participated in a comprehensive day of the Great Grandfathers and Grandmothers of the Homeland Mission in which they received free care in various health, food and recreation services.

This was reported by the mayor of the jurisdiction Emilio Velásquez, who also provided social aid to some grandparents who made their request through the 1×10 of Good Government.

“Today we are giving all our love to beautiful and wonderful beings who have given everything for our country and who today are an example to follow. In the fourth Republic, older adults were made invisible and often humiliated; Today in revolution we have achieved that all these grandparents are incorporated into social policies and even more so with the recent creation of the Ministry of the Elderly by our president Nicolás Maduro,” said Velásquez.

Comprehensive care

During the day, different national institutions such as Inass, MinSalud, INN, Misión Barrio Adentro, Misión Nevado, together with the Bolivarian mayor's office of Gómez, provided comprehensive attention to the trees of knowledge.

Raiza Martínez, Coordinator of the Great Grandfathers and Grandmothers of the Homeland Mission in the state of Nueva Esparta, explained: “We are dignifying the elderly through a comprehensive day through its different vertices, without patatús, enjoying a puyero, the templete, the dolled-up, among others.”

Omaira González, an older adult who lives in the Altagracia sector, came to the field to participate in this activity and expressed her satisfaction with the good attention received.

“I think it's wonderful, here we have a day of healthy eating, also recreation, getting a haircut, all those things that have a lot to do with a person's self-esteem, feeling good,” González said.
