Expo Lácteos Falcón 2024 projects productive potential of the region

More than 50 goat, sheep and bovine production units in the region will show their products and derivatives

Being the fifth dairy production state in the country, the Falcón state is organized with a pioneering activity called Expo Lácteos 2024, which will take place from May 24 to 26 at the “Don Pablo Saher” Fair Park in Coro (Miranda municipality).

The objective of the event is to generate a platform for producers and entrepreneurs to establish business alliances, offer their products and make known the latest trends in this sector of the food industry.

Therefore, the regional secretary of Agricultural Development, Francisco Herrera, indicated that eight municipalities of the entity, six states, more than 50 goat, sheep and bovine production units, as well as 11 agroindustrial companies, will participate in the activity.

He maintained that their goal is the crystallization of the project of a National Institute of Milk and Whey, as well as obtaining the Sencamer certification in the premium category.

“This will be the first activity of this type in the country, completely free where in addition to the exhibition of products and derivatives, there will be conferences, tastings, a business conference, demonstrations, recreational activities for children, a contact farm and contests, awards and much more,” Herrera insisted.

He also highlighted the participation of two international specialists, including engineer Alexis León Rojas from the University of Kassel in Germany and Dr. Jacobus de Waard from the University of the Andes in Ecuador, as well as the president of the national committee of Sencamer, Carmen. Mantilla, in the SUB-04 milk and products area.

He said that the proposal developed by the organizing committee made up of nine specialists in the area, is to make visible the potential of the sector, to provide comprehensive attention to the producer with training, exhibition and dissemination of new products from the venture.

A high-profile event

Hererra also said that the Fair Park has all the necessary infrastructure with basic services and Wi-Fi so that the exhibitors can show the quality of their products and their diversity.

"We will have warehouses, kiosks and spaces equipped to be used as commercial premises, in addition to offering awnings with food and drinks, green areas, children's entertainment and various musical, cultural and recreational activities," he specified.

Among the programming, the dairy expo will offer the general public courses on making yellow cheese, mozarrella, Greek yogurt, ripened cheeses, fruit dehydration, and the “My First Cheese” workshop aimed at children.

While producers and exhibitors will have access to conferences on the livestock registration program, biodynamic agriculture, antivenom serums for veterinary use, benefits of milk, milk pasteurization, the projection of A2 milk, the experience with genotype and a food handling course.

Representing the organizing committee, Miguel Villegas, pointed out that in order to make small and medium-sized producers visible, a contest will be held for different dairy products, in which the awards seek to encourage development.

"The last category, bronze medal, will be a product that can be improved, second place or silver medal, will be a product in the process of improvement and first place or gold medal, will be an already improved product."

He also added that the expo will be conducive for entrepreneurs from the Falcón state to launch new products, including a soap for personal use made from milk and yogurt.

Villegas praised the participation of the Sheep and Goat Association of Falcón state (Asovicaf) in the construction of the regulations for the contest, which is endorsed by the ISO Standard and was written by specialists.
