An electoral agreement

Good morning. If you want to stay up to date and not miss anything, this newsletter is for you.

Last night Maduro did his weekly TV show and, as always, generated news. The most important thing is that he announced that is ready to sign an electoral agreement that consists of the commitment to recognize the result announced by the CNE on the night of the presidential election, whatever it may be.

“I believe in the electoral system, I believe in Venezuelan democracy, I believe in the people, in deep and true democracy; I'm ready".

He invited all candidates to sign this agreement and reject plans to unleash violence and ignore the electoral result.

Furthermore, he said that when he is re-elected the first thing he will do will be “call for a great dialogue of understanding to harmonize the vision of the future.”

“…it will be up to them if they do not want to sign this understanding agreement; "Whoever doesn't want to sign, it will be for a reason... It sounds strange."

Maduro reiterated the complaint that there are murderers looking for him to kill him in the middle of the tours he is making throughout the country. This time he pointed out Álvaro Uribe and Iván Duque to be behind these hitmen. He said that he has names and surnames of Venezuelans and Colombians who are in that plan and that they have captured some.

“They are hunting me and I am not a rabbit.”

Silver for the communes

The President also reported that he has already signed all the money for the financing of all the communal projects approved in the Popular Consultation. He also authorized funding for community projects that came in second. Ángel Prado, the Minister of Communes, said that he personally visited the Federal Government Council to expedite the download of resources.

Fine-tuned machinery and zero violence

Yesterday at the weekly press conference of the PSUV Diosdado Cabello He warned the opposition that Chavismo will not accept any type of violence. He clarified that it is not that they are going to react, it is that they will not let them develop anything similar to the violent episodes of 2017 and 2014.

“We are not going to wait for a disaster to occur in Venezuela, that is why I say that we are not going to allow violence, we are not going to allow manifestations of hate of any nature.”

He also commented on the 1×10 check-up day that there was on Sunday pointed out that the opposition's criticism only reflects how far they are from having a similar deployment.

“When we carry out checking activities, reviewing the machinery, it is a process of criticism and self-criticism. The opposition is so stupid that they believe that these are a way of assuming that 1×10 does not work; That will work and between now and June 28 we will correct all the errors and deficiencies we have. The 1×10 is so positive that, since the right does not have one, it is their turn to talk about ours.”

Exchange rate

The Central Bank of Venezuela reported that yesterday's exchange tables showed an average of 36,45 bolivars per dollar. Remember that this is the only rate valid for any transaction today.

Bye, petrodollar

In the international field, the most important note is that Saudi Arabia made official the abandonment of the petrodollar deal, the one that for 50 years has tied the sale of crude oil to the use of the US currency. This is an important step towards the de-dollarization of international trade. Find out more here.

The Security Council and the truce in Gaza

It's news that The UN Security Council passed a resolution that proposes a truce in Gaza and that was presented by the US. The thing was approved by almost all members of the Council, except Russia, which abstained. The problem here is that the wording of the proposal made by the gringos implies that Hamas accepts losing political spaces within Palestine.

The Security Council has already approved three resolutions on the war in Gaza: in November, December and March, but none have been implemented on the ground.
