Venezuela strengthens ties with Sao Tome and Principe

Delegations from both countries explored areas of cooperation in hydrocarbons and possible collaboration agendas in scientific and educational matters.

In order to strengthen ties in areas of energy cooperation, the Minister of Popular Power for Petroleum, Rafael Tellechea, held a meeting with the Prime Minister and Head of Government of Sao Tome and Principe, Patrice Trovoada,

Tellechea expressed on his social networks “extremely pleased to receive the Prime Minister and Head of Government of Sao Tome and Principe, Patrice Trovoada, with whom we explored areas of cooperation in hydrocarbons to continue strengthening our link with Africa, a region with great energy projection in the future".

During the meeting they exchanged experiences and identified areas of cooperation, following the lines of the Bolivarian Government, in order to strengthen ties with Mother Africa.  

Science and Education

Likewise, the Sectoral Vice President of Science, Technology, Education and Health, Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez, met with Prime Minister Patrice Emery Trovoada, to review the cooperation agenda that both nations maintain in scientific and educational matters.

The minister indicated on her social networks that the meeting also expressed Venezuela's willingness to share with the African country the agenda of innovation and agricultural biotechnology being developed in the nation.

“Today we received the Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe, Patrice Emery Trovoada. With him we talked about the scientific and educational collaboration agendas that can be promoted from Venezuela with the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe, as well as the willingness of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to share the innovation agendas of Open Science, the agendas in the area of ​​agricultural biotechnology and all the opportunities that exist from the country's research centers and universities,” said Minister Jiménez.

During his official visit, the Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe will hold meetings with different representatives of the national Government, to deepen cooperation ties in different strategic areas.

Venezuela and Sao Tome and Principe established diplomatic relations in 2006. Since then, different cooperation agreements have been signed.
