Venezuela assumes vice presidency of the OPEC Fund for development

The OPEC Fund provides financial assistance to developing countries.

This Wednesday, Venezuela assumed the vice presidency of the Oil Exporting Countries Fund for International Development (OFID) for the period 2024-2025.

This was reported in his count of the Vice Minister of Digital Economy, Banking, Insurance and Securities, Román Maniglia, detailing that in compliance with the instructions of President Nicolás Maduro, he led a delegation that participated in the 45th OFID Ministerial Council.

"With this, our country ratifies the commitment to promote international cooperation to strengthen the development of the emerging economies, especially the countries of the global south, with a pluripolar and multicentric vision,” he added.

In addition, he participated in the III OFID Development Forum, the 188th Board of Governors. She also held a bilateral meeting with Dr. Abdulhamid Alkhalifa, President of the OPEC Fund.

“Ratifying the key and strategic role that this important multilateral financial organization plays in Venezuela,” expressed Maniglia in the X post.

El OPEC Fund for International Development is a multilateral development financing institution created in 1976 by the member states of OPEC, with headquarters in Vienna, Austria. The OPEC Fund aims to provide financial assistance to developing countries.
