Dozens of companies seek US licenses

Repsol will continue developing business with PDVSA in Petroquiriquire

Between 20 and 50 companies intend to continue investing in Venezuela's oil industry, which is why they have asked Washington to make unilateral coercive measures more flexible.

According to statements from a spokesperson for US diplomacy, the individual requests of each company are being “progressively reviewed”.

For its part, the Spanish company Repsol will maintain its operations in Venezuela beyond May 31, as reported by sources linked to the company to the Bloomberg news agency, despite the intensification of sanctions imposed by the United States last April. .

The transnational managed to obtain “a new license” from the Treasury Department that allows it to continue making its alliances with Petróleos de Venezuela.

Both companies recently signed an agreement that expands the number of oil fields to be exploited by the Petroquiriquire joint venture, which includes the Quiriquire, Mene Grande and Barua-Motatán fields.

Petroquiriquire has an impact on the Western Division, located south of Lake Maracaibo (Zulia) and the El Furrial Division, which is located in the East of Venezuela.
