Zerpa fulfills his role in the Royals bullpen

The left-hander leads the Kansas City bullpen in effectiveness with a minimum of 20 innings

The Venezuelan reliever of the Kansas City Royals, Angel Zerpa, already seems to have a certain role in the bullpen of the monarch team and from there it has worked to the point of being the most effective in manager Matt Quatraro's relief staff.

However, on Thursday in the Royals' 4-3 victory over the Cleveland Guardians, the Easter Valley native acted with the game tied at three lines in the sixth inning and retired the scoreless; granting only one walk and prescribing one strikeout, with which he reached 22 so far this campaign.

He left his ERA at 2.19; the best in Kansas City for pitchers with at least 20 chapters of work (24.2 total). Rivals hit .255 against him; which is the second-lowest average on the team, behind only Chris Stratton (.193).

Additionally, Ángel Zerpa has a WHIP of 1.30 (2nd with min. 20 IP). And, he has so far recorded the best strikeout rate per nine innings of his career (8.03).

This against Cleveland, it was his eighth time working in the sixth inning. However, the greatest number of his works have been done in the seventh scroll (11), six have been in the eighth and three in the fifth.
