MLB sanctioned a referee for betting

The umpire could be suspended for life if found guilty

The betting controversies in Major League Baseball continue, but this time it is an umpire who is involved. This is Pat Hoberg, who was sanctioned by MLB.

According to journalist Jeff Passan, Hoberg appealed the decision because he denies gambling.

Likewise, Major League Baseball indicated in a statement that the umpire was removed from his duties during spring training due to the investigation into this possible violation of sports betting policies. Additionally, MLB has found no evidence that the duels in which Pat Hogberg was involved were altered in any way.

It should be noted that Hogberg has not refereed a game this season due to this investigation, which if found guilty, would be violating MLB Rule 21, for which he would be suspended for life.

On the other hand, Pat Hogber became known in the Majors last year, since in game two of the World Series between the Texas Rangers and the Arizona Rattlers he had a perfect performance behind the plate, calling 129 pitches correctly for strike and ball.

Let us remember that recently, Tucupita Marcano was suspended from the Major Leagues for violating this regulation.
