Martín Pérez sent to the injured list

The opener suffered a left groin strain on Sunday

Venezuelan pitcher Martín Pérez was placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Pittsburgh Pirates due to a left groin strain.

The news was announced by the Major League team through its account on the social network

“We have activated INF Ke'Bryan Hayes from the 10-day injured list and have selected the contract of C Grant Koch to the Major League roster. “We have also placed LHP Martín Pérez on the 15-day injured list (backdated to May 27) and C Joey Bart on the 10-day injured list (backdated to May 27),” the club said.

Martín Pérez had his last start in the Big Top this Sunday in which the Venezuelan pitched just three innings. During the game it could be seen when the Venezuelan suffered discomfort in a play to cover the first base.

The Venezuelan will remain in recovery and will undergo several exams to determine the severity of the injury and to know if he will be able to return to the mound or take more time out of action.

Let's remember that the Pirates recently signed the starter to a one-year, $8 million contract to give stability to their rotation.
