Llaneros wins the debut of Luz Vargas on the bench

The Guariqueño team came from behind in the last two quarters to defeat Spartans

This Saturday there was history in the Olympic Dome of San Juan de Los Morros, as Luz Marina Vargas became the first coach to win a game in the 50 years of history of Venezuelan professional basketball and in her debut on the bench of Llaneros de Guárico, who defeated Spartans of the Capital District 85-81.

Elder Giménez led the Llanera offense with 16 points, while Ludgy Debaut added 13 and the same number of rebounds, during a game in which the local team came from behind, after a fairly even first quarter (14-14) and a second quarter dominated by Spartans (31-25).

In both the third and fourth periods, Llaneros limited their rivals to 36 points, while they scored 46 to finish turning the game around.

It should be noted that before this match, Llaneros had won only one of 13 matches before the promotion of Luz Marina Vargas, to the detriment of Óscar Silva who until this week was coach of the Guariqueña squad.
