Lenyn Sosa opened his 2024 home run account

The Guyana shortstop threw it in the fourth inning against Shota Imanaga's streamer

The Venezuelan shortstop of the Chicago White Sox, Lenyn Soda, opened his home run account this season. He hit an 82.5mph splitter from Japanese Shota Imanaga during the Whitelegs' 6-7 loss to the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

The hit left the plate at a speed of 108mph and traveled 406ft to go all over left field, driving in two runs and giving the White Sox a 5-0 lead at that point in the fifth inning. However, the bullpen could not keep up and the 'bear cubs' scored five runs between the fifth and sixth innings, in addition to another two in the eighth.

However, that was the second of two hits in four turns for Lenyn Sosa, being the first time in the campaign that he managed to double in a game. In addition, with the two produced by him he reached three in a total of 16 commitments in 2024.

Now, having said that, it must be mentioned that the native of Puerto Ordaz has not been able to fully establish himself in the Majors. So far this year he has already been demoted twice to AAA Charlotte. And, to top it all off he was placed on the seven-day injured list per concussion protocol.

Likewise, he has not performed as the White Sox expect and logically that is part of the reluctance to keep him a regular on the big roster.
