Dhers: “Sports life is not easy at all”

The Venezuelan rider assured that it is hard for him not to have been able to seal the ticket for the Olympic Games

Daniel Dhers is one of the Venezuelan athletes who has managed to win the affection of an entire country, with his charisma and his great feats on the ramps on a global scale.

The Caracas rider is the first Venezuelan to win an Olympic medal in BMX Freestyle, he did so in the Tokyo 2020 edition, he was preparing to win his ticket to Paris 2024 but it was not possible.

The man from Caracas explains in a video uploaded to his social networks how difficult it is to face the challenges in the Olympic cycle race and explains that, although he will not participate as an athlete, he will do so as a coach.

With a fall: “This is how my Olympic cycle towards Paris 2024 began. However, I did not give up and did everything I could in all the events I went to, but it was very challenging,” says Dhers.

The Venezuelan had to go through several bumps throughout the qualifying events, from a sprained ankle in Saudi Arabia to a hernia operation, yet the cyclist's spirit never broke and he continued trying for the long-awaited classification.

He won several tournaments, becoming Continental Champion of America. In addition to being among the best worldwide. Dhers became the coach of the Chinese Women's BMX team (qualified for Paris), this being the one with which he will be in the sporting event.

“Sports life is not easy at all. It is a bittersweet moment for me for not having been able to qualify for the Olympic Games as a runner, but as a coach,” was the message that accompanied the rider's video.

Dhers, who had a rather tough Olympic cycle, said goodbye to his opportunity to seal his ticket a few weeks ago at the Olympic Qualifying Series stop held in Shanghai, China and in which the Venezuelan finished in 13th place in the classification.
